Matt Damon has been in a lot of movies over the years, but a small role in Mystic Pizza marked his film debut. Damon shares a scene with Julia Roberts in one of her career-launching early roles, and now both actors have become A-list movie stars. Helmed by Donald Petrie in his feature directorial debut, Mystic Pizza is a romantic dramedy about a group of friends working at a pizza parlor in a seaside town in Connecticut. Roger Ebert famously predicted that many Mystic Pizza cast members would become big stars.
